Happy Left handers day!

August 13th, 2010 | By Raidz

I take pride in this international day, well for one, I am left handed. This international day was first observed August 13th, 1976, according to Wikipedia that is.

Did you Know? Right handed people operate in the left side of the brain. Left handed people use the right side. Therefore, only left handed people are in their right mind.

The left hemisphere (RIGHT HAND CONTROL) controls Speech, Language, Writing, Logic, Mathematics, Science, this is the LINEAR THINKING MODE.

The right hemisphere (LEFT HAND CONTROL) controls Music, Art, Creativity, Perception, Spatial awareness, Emotions, Genius, this is the HOLISTIC THINKING MODE (the whole picture of something rather than the little bit).

Have you noticed:

  • • In school, have you ever seen a left handed desk? They don’t exist.
  • • Many left handed items cost more.
  • • Novelty coffee mugs are made with the picture or text for a right handed pick-up.
  • • Scissors for right handers. Only a lefty would understand this.
  • • The computer mouse you are using as you read this is designed for right handers.
  • • When writing with a pen/pencil/marker you tend to smear everything

Here are some interesting facts about Lefties:

  • • As left handers, we never do anything right (I know one person that will agree to that until she dies <3)
  • • Sinistrophobia is the fear of left-handedness or things on the left side.
  • • While many people are left handed, very few are 100% left handed. For example, many Left handers golf and bat right handed. On the other hand, there is a high percentage of righties who are 100% right-handed.
  • • Lefties are also called “southpaws.”
  • • Tuesdays are Lefties luck day.
  • • Only about 10% of the population is left handed.
  • • During the 1600′s people, thought left handers were witches and warlocks.
  • • They say everyone was born right handed, and only the greatest overcome it.
  • • It is believed that all polar bears are left handed.

The Left Advantage

Part of this is almost certainly linked with the organization of the brain with the right side of the brain that controls spatial awareness linked directly to the dominant left hand, giving left-handers an advantage when thinking in three dimensions and in interpreting information in a 3 dimensional space.

A right-handed player will more usually face a “like-handed” opponent play a similar game and playing a left-hander is less common, whereas a “lefty” will invariably have faced more right-handers and thus be quite used to their “opposite” style of play.

Who Is Left Handed?
Barack Obama, President
Bill Clinton, President
Ramses II, Egyptian Pharaoh
Alexander the Great, Greek Emperor
Napoléon Bonaparte, French Emperor
Julius Caesar, Roman general
Helen Keller, advocate for the blind
Jay Leno, TV host
John Dillinger, Bank robber
Jack-the-Ripper, Famous Serial killer
Bart Simpson, The Simpsons
Kurt Cobain, Nirvana
Phil Collins, Genesis
Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins
Jimi Hendrix, Guitarist
Michelangelo, painted the Sistine Chapel
Leonardo da Vinci, painted the Last Supper

Honestly I could list them all, but it is just to give you an idea of left handers of our past/present.

To Pierce or Not to Pierce

July 30th, 2010 | By EVAxR0CKz

So if you all don’t “already” know, yours truly decided to get a piercing yesterday. I obviously tweeted about my trip since I was nervous as hell! I got so many DMs & messages from some that want a piercing but are completely freaked out about the pain. Especially where I got my piercings so many of you ladies want piercings there but are afraid. So I thought I’d just straight out talk about my experience and give you all an HONEST opinion.

Thanks to the beautiful Mizz Dangerous, I was able to find a GREAT place and person to do the deed. I went to Flesh Creations on 91st Ave. & Van Buren. in Tolleson, AZ. Duane Rhoades was the one to ask for!

The absolute truth about piercings or even tattoos is to really do your homework! Inspired by Christina Aguilera, Cassie, & yes even Rihanna I originally wanted my piercings over a year ago. But after doing the homework I then decided to wait.

One thing to understand is the pain depends on the person. It is different for everyone. Some people say they felt a little pinch while others say it felt like someone shoving a needle through their pinky finger. It really just depends on what you define as pain. For me, the first piercing felt like someone bit down hard on the area and the second one hurt more than the first because I was anticipating it. Of a scale from 1-10 and 10 being the MOST painful I’d give it a 6 or 7 max.

The other thing you have to do is know what you want before you get it done. Some people get their piercings or tats spontaneously, but you really screw yourself if you have no idea what you want. Know if you want a ring, barbell, or horseshoe. For some body parts one is better than the other. I chose barbells for mine because it goes straight across instead of having rings because they’re curved. And because rings in that area just seemed more hazardous to me.

Last thing is to really make sure you have a professional piercing you and his tools are clean. The whole process really depends on them because if they know what they’re doing, it won’t be as painful and you’ll have less chance of infection. Also ask questions! When I walked in Duane and his buddies that work there made me feel super comfortable!

I knew what I wanted right away but the only thing I was clueless about was the gauge. It was either 14 or 16 and because Duane is the best he knew that 16 is bigger but less painful. He also knew what size best fit me because if it’s too short, it’ll hurt!

Overall, if you want the piercing, get it! I love mine! Even though the after pain is a little annoying it’s not horrible and the piercing is healing very nicely. Also, make sure you have someone with you if you can. I had Nando with me and he was awesome at keeping me relaxed! Well of course he was excited because he’s my man and loves the piercings probably more than I do. (LOL!) Anyway, after care is important! It up to you from there on out to keep it clean and healing well. Remember you can message me or hit me on twitter if you have any questions! Follow me: @EVAxR0CKz (with a “zero” not the letter “O”)

P.S.> If after reading all that and you still are wondering where I got my piercings, don’t worry. It’ll come to you later on =)

2010 Summer Fashion Accessories

July 28th, 2010 | By EVAxR0CKz

So, of course, this is for the ladies. Summer is half way over and so I wondered what were the top accessories of the summer? So I took to my twitter followers to ask what they couldn’t live without this season. Here were the results!Victoria Secret “Pink” purse  and gold watches were among one of the top picks.

But the biggest & the most important was sunglasses! From retro to designer! I’d have to agree that sunglasses especially in the southwest sunglasses are essential!

White or black square frames as well as assorted color Ray Ban frames are the most popular!

Playboy launches “The Smoking Jacket”

July 21st, 2010 | By EVAxR0CKz

Well fellas, time to prove if you really bought those copies of the magazine for the articles. Playboy is launching a web site called “The Smoking Jacket” in which the site will contain NO nudity. I know, what’s the point right? Well apparently Playboy felt they were missing out on a major market by not having a safe for work (SFW) website. The lead producer, Matt Gibbs, says the goal is for The Smoking Jacket to be “the go to site for those who are bored at work.” But is it really worth checking out?

I was curious so I did visit the site. It does not contain those awesome interviews with the celebrities. However, what they do offer is pretty interesting. The site is very humor driven and contains articles like “Honest Movie Titles, Working With Hot Chicks, Stripper Cage Fighting, and More”. Obviously this site is perfect for those that dig hot girls, sex, and humor. I think it’s safe to say that although “The Smoking Jacket” is safe for work nothing can replace good, old-fashioned naked centerfolds.

But it ain’t really a matter of disappointment or letdown, ’cause I never really … I grew up never having sh–, never having anybody. So I never was that dude to depend on a mother—-er. Obviously, the actions is not something that you condone or that you’re happy with. Not at all.”
